Before you commit to a name
The generator is the easy part. Do these four checks first — they take ten minutes and save years of regret:
- Search it on Spotify and Apple Music. If an artist with that name already has a following, you'll be fighting their search results forever.
- Check the handles. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube. If they're all taken, the name is effectively taken.
- Say it out loud to a stranger. If they have to ask how to spell it, they can't find you.
- Google it. Make sure it doesn't mean something you'd rather it didn't.
Then use it consistently
Once you choose, spell it identically everywhere — same capitalization, same spacing, every single release. Distributors treat "Lil Example" and "lil example" as two different artists, which splits your streams across two profiles.
