Tango

About this beat

Tango is a 81 BPM boom bap type beat, released in 2024, 40 bars long. Below: how these 40 bars are built and what they ask from a writer.

There's a 11-second run-up here before the full beat arrives. Use those 11 seconds: entering over a bare loop reads more deliberate than rapping into a wall of drums. Across 1:58 the low end pulls back 2 times — first around 0:15, then near 0:20. Those 2 gaps are the built-in spots for a cadence switch or a bar of silence. The loudest moment lands around 0:59, and roughly 23% of the beat sits below its own average level. Weight builds toward the back third — after roughly 1:18 — so save the strongest bars for the end.

At 81 BPM “Tango” sits in the classic boom bap pocket, faster than 24% of the 84 beats in this catalogue. Most writers fit 10–13 syllables per bar at this speed — over 40 bars that's around 500 syllables if you fill every one. Counting it double-time at 162 gives you a tighter grid for triplets and hi-hat-style runs.

The beat runs 1:58 — about 40 bars at 81 BPM. Enough for a hook, one sixteen and a 0-bar outro — a single-verse record rather than a full three-verse build.
